The Einstein Intersection by Samuel R. Delany

The surface story tells of the problems a member of an alien race, Lo Lobey, has assimilating the mythology of earth, where his kind have settled among the leftover artifacts of humanity.

The Einstein Intersection won the Nebula Award for best science fiction novel of 1967. I will ship this book in a moisture proof zip-loc bag, padded in bubble wrap, inside a sturdy box to assure it reaches its new owner in the same condition as my description. A nonhuman race reimagines human mythology. Its dust jacket, now protected by a removable mylar cover, is also in fine condition: whole, bright, unmarked, and unworn. Pages are unworn and - other than the author's inscription - unmarked. Covers are unmarked and unworn, with bright gilt titles on its spine. Binding is tight and square, with no spine crease. This is the book club version of the Wesleyan edition (differentiated only by the SFBC number '01414' on its jacket back.) This gift quality book is in fine condition. This edition has a new foreword by Neil Gaiman of Sandman comic fame. The plot follows a race of aliens, the Lo Lobey, who colonize Earth after humankind's departure and try to make sense of our existence (good luck). (Included is a flyer for the Seattle SF reading series at which Delany appeared.) Four different publishers have issued hardcover chapbooks of Delany's 'Einstein Intersection' over the years, but this Wesleyan University Press edition is distinguished by its lovely intro essay by Neil Gaiman. Delany's 1967 novel won the Nebula Award for Best Science Fiction Book.
